Watering Guidelines

To keep your lawn looking great, follow our watering guidelines.

Grass is like a human, the hotter the conditions are the more water it requires. Over-watering can damage the lawn so do not be tempted to go over our guidelines. This is because grass takes in oxygen through the roots and over-watering will starve the plant of the required oxygen. We recommend watering each area a sprinkler covers for 10-15 minutes, every 3 days, throughout the summer. A good soaking of the lawn every few days is much more effective in producing good growth than a little water every day. If there is heavy rain the three day cycle can be reset. The best time to water is around 04:00 but as this is not practical for most people, the evening is the most suitable time.

Sometimes despite the correct procedures being followed the lawn may require a little extra help. This often occurs during hot, dry spells. EJH Horticulture are able to provide this drought control by applying wetting agent.

We love to see the whole garden looking great, not just the lawn. We are happy to give advice where we can but for anything garden related we recommend consulting the Royal Horticultural Society.  https://www.rhs.org.uk/
